According to Jake Fischer, the Miami Heat are a potential landing spot for John Collins.
On the Bleacher Report Free Agency Show on YouTube, Fischer talked about Collins and the possibility of joining the Miami Heat. You can hear the talk about Collins at about the 7:58:00 mark of the day long live stream.
Fischer said during the live stream:
“I think the Heat are considering various options. One name I’ve heard for them has been John Collins … John Collins is the final of the three veterans that Utah has been trying to move off of seemingly for two years now. I do think if that does happen, the Heat would be the most likely team.”
It makes sense that John Collins would have some interest in moving back to that area, having roots there. Utah is leaning into its youth movement, and John Collins doesn’t align with the current makeup of the team.
That said, interest and a deal made are two separate things. Collins’ contract is pretty large, and it’s not clear if a deal can be made. It is an interesting fit, and it would provide the Heat with an expiring contract to work with if they’d like to make some free agency moves next year.
