PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The Portland Trail Blazers and center Deandre Ayton have parted ways, as the veteran bought out the remainder of his contract, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Charania reports that Ayton and his representatives approached the Blazers about a buyout and wanted to play in a “winning situation,” according to sources.
“The move helps Portland clear up a crowded center room that includes Yang Hansen, the No. 16 pick in last week’s draft, and Donovan Clingan, the No. 7 pick in last year’s draft,” Charania said on ESPN.com.
Ayton came from the Phoenix Suns in September 2023, as part of the three-team trade that sent Damian Lillard to Milwaukee.
According to Charania, Ayton had $35.6 million left on his contract that was set to expire next summer.
Ayton appeared in 95 games for the Blazers over the last two seasons.
