DALLAS, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Zhuric Phelps, the former Midland Lee Rebel, recently signed a summer league deal with the Dallas Mavericks organization. Phelps played for the Rebels in his freshman and sophomore years before transferring to Duncanville, where he went on to win the 2021 UIL Class 6A state championship.

After High School, Phelps went to SMU for his first three seasons before transferring to Texas A&M. In his senior season with the Aggies, Phelps averaged 13.6 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals; however, his best season came in 2022-2023 when he averaged 17.5 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.3 steals.

The Midland native will begin the summer league with the Dallas Mavericks on July 10th as they open up with a big matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers, televised on ESPN. The game time is set for 7:00 p.m. CDT at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
