The Wells Fargo Center, which is home to the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers, is getting a new name, it was announced on Tuesday.
The sports venue, which is also home to concerts and other forms of entertainment, will be renamed Xfinity Mobile Arena.
The name change will be effective Sept. 1, 2025 and run through the 2030-31 season. The change was announced by Comcast Spectacor and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment.
“Philadelphia is home to the most passionate fans in the country, and that competitive spirit is a perfect complement to the Xfinity Mobile brand,” Steve Croney, COO, Connectivity & Platforms, Comcast said in a statement. “Xfinity Mobile is fueled by the largest and fastest WiFi network in America which will give our Philadelphia fans an unrivaled experience at one of Philadelphia’s legendary sports and entertainment venues.”
The Wells Fargo Center was completed in 1996. It has been the home of the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers and NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers since then.
The arena is a part of The Philadelphia Sports Complex, which includes Citizens Bank Park — home of the Philadelphia Phillies, and Lincoln Financial Field — home of the Philadelphia Eagles.
“This arena is an anchor in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex and broader region,” Dan Hilferty, Chairman & CEO of Comcast Spectacor, said in a statement. “As we complete our historic relationship with Wells Fargo, we wanted to ensure that our new partner matched our enthusiasm for delivering world-class service to our fans and guests.
“We are committed to continuing investing in our venue to ensure we’re at the forefront of technology, innovation, and cutting-edge fan experiences. We couldn’t be more excited that Xfinity Mobile’s brand will become the centerpiece for sports and entertainment in Philadelphia.”
