We were all geeked up to play the resurrected college football EA Sports game “College Football 25” last year after more than a decade of it being shelved because of issues with Name, Image and Likeness. But once that was hammered out and EA Sports was able to get it back in our hands, we played like there was no tomorrow.

And now, on the heels of that — with “College Football 26” getting ready to hit the virtual realm later this month, EA Sports has announced that it will also be bringing back the college basketball franchise. There’s no announcement on what the name of the game will be, but we’ll go out on a pretty sturdy limb here and say it’ll be something like — oh, I don’t know — “NCAA Basketball 28” or whatever year the reboot comes out?

According to a report from Matt Brown, the plan (though not announced directly by EA Sports) is for the game to have a 2028 release date. The last time we saw a college basketball game from the fine folks at EA Sports was “NCAA Basketball 10,” so it’s been a minute or two.

We know Ohio State fans will love this, but maybe not as much as fans residing in Chapel Hill, Lexington, Durham, or Lawrence. Still, it should be fun when everything is finalized and on the market. In the meantime, you can get your hands on “College Football 26” on July 10, with early access via the Deluxe Edition on July 7.
