The New York Knicks are making moves in free agency, and this could be their biggest yet.

Without a head coach, the New York Knicks are making their roster an even more attractive one for Tom Thibodeau’s replacement.

After adding Jordan Clarkson to the roster, the Knicks have made an even more impressive move, landing Guerschon Yabusele.

Yabusele has rebuilt his career after a previous struggle with the Knicks’ rivals the Boston Celtics.

Guerschon Yabusele signed for the Philadelphia 76ers on a one-year deal in 2024 after standout performances for France at the Olympics. He left Spanish side Real Madrid.

Yabusele’s first stint in the NBA came with the Boston Celtics, between 2017 and 2019. He struggled to make an impact.

Speaking to HoopsHype earlier this season, Yabusele reflected now that after winning titles abroad, he has made a big improvement on and off the court.

He explained: “The man I am now is completely different from the one I was in Boston. In the game, I understand the game more, the pace of the game, and how fast it’s played.”

“The game is completely different than when I was in Boston. Being able to be in different situations and learn what it’s like to lose and win, get some championships. That experience made me a better player there than I was back in the day.”

Yabusele signs for the Knicks

Guerschon Yabusele has signed for the New York Knicks, leaving a disappointed Sixers side, and the San Antonio Spurs, who wanted to bring him in.

Shams Charania posted on X: “Guerschon Yabusele has agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract with the New York Knicks, plus a player option.”

The move has gained a positive reaction, with the Knicks adding an experienced impact maker who impressed in 2024-25.

Kevin O’Connor posted on X: “Wow. Hell of a signing for the Knicks. Yabu was awesome last season.”

Fred Katz posted: “Good player. Good fit. Fills a need. Can play the 5. Can run next to Towns or Robinson.”

Re: the Knicks signing Yabusele…

Good player. Good fit. Fills a need. Can play the 5. Can run next to Towns or Robinson. Gotta guard him beyond the arc.

Not obsessed with the PO, given potential 2026-27 payroll, but sometimes that’s the cost of doing business for a good player

Yabusele’s addition helps build out the Knicks roster, with the team managing to hold onto all of their stars this offseason.

Talks continue over a new head coach, with former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown claimed to be the current frontrunner.
