Indiana will open the Darian DeVries Era on Nov. 5 at Assembly Hall, when the new coach leads the Hoosiers against Alabama A&M to kick off the 2025-26 season.

IU released its full nonconference schedule Tuesday, a slate that includes previously announced games against Marquette (Nov. 9 at the United Center in Chicago), Kansas State (Nov. 25 in Bloomington), Louisville (Dec. 6 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis), and Kentucky (Dec. 13 in Lexington, Kentucky).

“It was important to our staff that we put together a schedule that prepares us for the intensity of a 20-game Big Ten schedule,” DeVries said in a statement. “We were able to get some regional rivals in high-profile venues that will get us ready for the tough environments we will see this season in league play. We are also excited to get our first taste of Hoosier Nation with eight games at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.”

The Hoosiers will also play host to Milwaukee (Nov. 12), which finished second in the Horizon League last season and went 21-11 overall. Home games against Incarnate Word (Nov. 16), Lindenwood (Nov. 20), Bethune-Cookman (Nov. 29), Chicago State (Dec. 20) and Siena (Dec. 22) complete the slate.

The complete Big Ten schedule will be announced later.

Pair of ex-players on staff for PFW women

Purdue Fort Wayne women’s basketball added program alumnae Lauren Ross and Kendal Muxlow to its coaching staff for the coming season as assistants.

Ross played her final season of college basketball with the Mastodons in 2024-25 and became the first in NCAA history to lead the nation in 3-point shooting percentage (47.6%) and free-throw shooting percentage (94.8%). She was also the first PFW player in a decade to be named an Academic All-American.

Muxlow played for the Mastodons from 2019 to 2021 before medically retiring. She was a team manager and then in 2023-24 was the program’s director of operations.

Purdue pair shine in FIBA World Cup

Purdue center Daniel Jacobsen and guard Omer Mayer had big performances in wins for their respective countries at the U19 FIBA World Cup in Switzerland.

Jacobsen collected seven points, nine rebounds, two assists and a block in 18 minutes in Team USA’s 129-70 win over Cameroon that made the Americans champions of Group D at 3-0 in group play.

Mayer, of Team Israel, had 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block to lead his team past the Dominican Republic 80-76, making Israel the champion of Group C at 3-0. He went just 4 for 15 from the field, but was 3 for 8 from 3-point range.

Preseason Camp list has

IU, Notre Dame players

Indiana football is one of five teams with three players on the Walter Camp Preseason All-America list. Hoosiers cornerback D’Angelo Ponds (first team), wide receiver Elijah Sarratt (second team) and defensive end/linebacker Mikail Kamara (second team) earned recognition.

Notre Dame is one of six teams with two first-team selections – running back Jeremiyah Love and cornerback Leonard Moore.

Hoosiers land D-lineman

Indiana football added a 20th recruit to its 2026 recruiting class with the decision of three-star defensive lineman Cameron McHaney, who chose the Hoosiers over Purdue and Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-1, 315-pound McHaney is the No. 472 player nationally, per 247 Sports, and the 43rd-ranked lineman. He had 168 tackles, including 13 tackles for loss and five sacks, in two seasons with Indianapolis Lutheran before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida for his junior campaign last year.

IU’s class ranks 27th nationally.
