A member of one of the most beloved Blue Devil families in recent memory is returning to the great state of North Carolina, as former Duke center Mason Plumlee reached an agreement on a one-year, $3.6 million deal to sign with the Charlotte Hornets, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Plumlee last played for the Phoenix Suns during the 2024-25 NBA season and previously played for the Clippers, Hornets, Pistons, Nuggets, Blazers, and Nets over the course of his 14-year career.

In 74 games, Plumlee started 21 of them for Phoenix, averaging 17.6 minutes a night. He also averaged 4.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 61.9% from the field over the course of the season.

Mason is one of three Plumlee brothers who played for Duke under legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski. His older brother Miles played four seasons for the Blue Devils, winning the 2010 NCAA Championship alongside Mason, who played from 2009 to 2013. Their youngest brother, Marshall, played from 2012 to 2016.

Plumlee now finds himself back in North Carolina and back with the Hornets as he looks to help lead Charlotte out of the doldrums of mediocrity and back to the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade.
