JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WCYB) — With summer workouts underway, the ETSU women’s basketball team is gearing up for a promising season, despite facing challenges due to injuries. Senior Megan Downing has emerged as a key player, stepping up as one of the most consistent post players on the team.

Downing is among a few returning players who had significant playing time last year. The team, largely composed of freshmen in starting roles due to injuries, is focusing on building chemistry and cohesion.

“I will say it was a little challenging,” said Downing. “So it was good that we all got to do it together and have that bonding experience while also helping kids and giving back and doing something good for our program.”

The team has been using every opportunity, including their skills camp for young kids, to strengthen their unity and prepare for the upcoming season.
