Michigan State’s top two players on last year’s team will be linking up again in NBA Summer League.

Last week, Jase Richardson was selected by the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA Draft and on Wednesday it was announced former Spartans teammate Jaden Akins is joining him with the Magic on their NBA Summer League roster. The Orlando Magic released their official NBA Summer League roster on Wednesday, with both Richardson and Akins included.

Akins went unselected in the NBA Draft and we were waiting patiently to see where he would end up, assuming he’d get a shot with someone in the upcoming NBA Summer League. Akins started all 72 of the Spartans’ games over the last two seasons, averaging double-digits in scoring in both years and providing stellar defensive presence as well. He is slightly undersized for the NBA, though, which hurt his stock ahead of the draft.

The Orlando Magic will begin their four-game slate in the NBA Summer League next week against the Sacramento Kings on July 10. The Magic will play four games across seven days in Las Vegas, with playoffs to follow.
