Jaren Jackson Jr. is getting paid.
The Memphis Grizzlies star and former Michigan State standout is expected to sign a five-year, $240 million maximum extension, according to an ESPN report on Monday.
Jackson, a 6-foot-10 big man, has spent all seven seasons with the Grizzlies and has career averages of 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. He was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year in to close the 2022-23 season.
A former five-star prospect, Jackson was a member of coach Tom Izzo’s 2017 recruiting class and spent one season with the Spartans. He averaged 10.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game before entering the NBA draft following Izzo’s advice.
Jackson, 25, was picked by the Grizzlies with the No. 4 overall pick in 2018 and has lived up to the hype while becoming the only player to record 1,500 points and 100 blocks last season.
According to ESPN, Jackson’s extension includes a player option in 2029-30, the final year of the deal.
