Damian Lillard is ready to show the world that he can still be a high-level contributor after the Bucks waived him unceremoniously.

Damian Lillard has had a torrid few months in the NBA. In April, Lillard injured his Achilles, thus leaving him unavailable for the next season.

There was a lot of doubt about his future with the team, and how the Milwaukee Bucks would overcome his injury.

In a shocking twist, the Bucks would end up waiving Lillard in order to sign Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner.

Since then, the Lakers have expressed interest in Lillard, looking to sign him for the future. LeBron James has seemingly endorsed Lillard’s potential arrival.

But what is Lillard’s mindset heading into this period of uncertainty? He is ready to remind everyone why he is one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Damian Lillard took to social media to comment on the speculation on his future. Specifically, he took aim at the narrative that signing him off an Achilles tear is a gamble.

Lillard simply reminded people of his stellar career, and said that if people still question how good he can be, they should acknowledge that he is a jackpot for any team that signs him.

“If they call it a ‘gamble’ at this stage… Tell em this the jackpot.”

Lillard seems to be confident in his ability to bounce back from this injury and come back and play at the highest level for whichever team he signs for.

But which team is most likely to take a chance on Lillard, given that he is 35 years old and unavailable for the entirety of next season?

LA Lakers and Golden State Warriors could sign Lillard

We’ve already mentioned that the Lakers are interested in signing Damian Lillard. But the Warriors are also another option for Lillard.

Lillard’s skillset is very similar to Stephen Curry’s, and they could bring him in to either play alongside Curry or be his deputy.

Plus, Lillard wanted to play with Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat when he first demanded a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers.

While a few years too late and both players past the peak of their powers, the pairing of Lillard and Butler could help the Warriors achieve great success.

But Lillard’s future, at the end of the day, will be up to the star guard himself. He will have to take a call on what is the best place for him to go.
