When the Philadelphia 76ers gave scrappy TJ McConnell a chance after going undrafted out of Arizona, one could not have imagined the impact he would make on the floor. He worked hard to make sure he put his stamp on the floor.
McConnell became a champion of “The Process” as he worked as hard as anybody on the floor and was able to make a name for himself. In his four seasons with the Sixers, he averaged 6.4 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.9 rebounds along with 1.3 steals. He was a member of a Sixers team that went from being one of the worst in the league to on the doorstep of the Eastern Conference finals in 2019.
Now with the Indiana Pacers, McConnell reflected on his time with the Sixers while on “The Young Man and the Three” podcast and gave a lot of love to the fans:
“That crowd. Playing in front of them, it was pretty incredible. People to this day just walking anywhere, we miss you in Philly. They show a lot of love so I got a lot of love for the fans of Philadelphia for sure.”
McConnell will now be looking to help the Pacers capture their first NBA title. They are currently in the East semifinals and hold a 1-0 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers with Game 2 happening on Tuesday night.
