As of 9:01 a.m. Pacific on Sunday, the NBA moratorium period is officially over. Up until Sunday morning, most free agent signings and trades around the league could only be unofficially agreed upon. Now with the moratorium period ending, those signings and deals can be finalized.

(Note: Some types of deals can be completed during the moratorium period, including contracts for new draft picks and veteran minimum deals, among others. For more information on the rules and exceptions involved, you can find that here.).

In regards to the Portland Trail Blazers, this offseason milestone means news should be coming soon about the trade for Jrue Holiday, even if it’s just a formal announcement by the organization recognizing the deal.

As it was reported on June 23, the Trail Blazers agreed to trade guard Anfernee Simons and two future second-round picks to the Boston Celtics for Holiday. There’s still the possibility that the deal could be expanded to include other teams; we won’t know for sure until the deal is finalized, and that finalization can take time, even after the moratorium period ends. As of the time of this article’s publish (12:08 PDT), neither the Celtics or the Blazers have announced the trade.

Also at this time, no news has come out about the Trail Blazers signing any free agents yet during the offseason.
