After the conclusion of the NBA 2024-25 season, the 2025 NBA Draft, and the onset of the Summer League, the free agency floodgates were officially open. Now, the teams will engage in negotiations with the players who decided to opt out of their player options and decided to become free agents, in order to explore new and better opportunities. As of now, there are several names who have entered free agency and are now looking out for a deal that might either land them to their previous teams or get them better offers as action moves ahead.

The list includes several restricted free agents who are eligible to sign an offer sheet with any team, but can also be signed by their previous teams by matching the terms of the offer. While some of the big names have already landed somewhere, there are still several names who can still be signed by the teams. Here, we will go through the list of top such free agents who are still up for grabs-

Damian Lillard

The Milwauke Bucks earlier decided to waive star point guard Damian Lillard, making him a top free agent this summer. He is recovering from the Achilles tear sustained during the playoffs, and will most likely be out of action for the entire next season. Lillard averaged 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game while shooting 44.8% from the field and 37.6% from the three-point arc.

Jonathan Kuminga

Jonathan Kuminga who missed several games during the previous due to an injury hiatus, was pulled out of the rotation following his return. Considering that he wasn’t given much chance to show off his talent, it seems pretty obvious that Kuminga might want to land somewhere else than Golden State. The youngster has developed his off-dribble scoring and shooting and could be a great asset to the team that decides to believe in his abilities. Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game in the past season.

No significant traction on the Jonathan Kuminga front over the weekend, per sources. Restricted free agency around the NBA remains ice cold. Conversations and little action. Kings have been strongest pursuer of Warriors’ wing, but nothing has come close.

Russell Westbrook

The veteran Denver Nuggets point guard Russell Westbrook had a solid season with the team. Having averaged 13.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game, the 36-year-old focused more on wrecking havoc defensively. Though he has had quite a few irregular shots and turnovers, Westbrook knows how to create extra possessions with his defense and rebounding. He shot 44.9% from the field and 32.3% from the three point arc, and would have multiple sights set on him in free agency.

Apart from the free agents mentioned above, names such as Chris Paul, Chris Boucher, Al Horford, Quentin Grimes, and more, are also available in the NBA free agency.

Possible Moves as NBA Free Agency Begins

As soon as the 2025 NBA Finals concluded, reports of teams pursuing free agents started surfacing all over the internet. Talking about Jonathan Kuminga, there have been rumors that the Golden State Warriors will now move on from him by a sign-and-trade. Not only this, but the young forward has also drawn interest from teams such as the Kings, the Wizards, the Heat, Bulls, Bucks, and the Nets.

Chris Paul, who recently dropped a hint about his retirement following the conclusion of the next season, could sign with the Milwaukee Bucks. Paul hasn’t won any ring yet and Bucks have emerged as a real threat to make a title run especially after the addition of Myles Turner.

Damian Lillard, the top name in free agency, and the Boston Celtics reportedly hold mutual interest. While Lillard is an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career, the Celtics have shuffled their roster. They have now emerged among the most interested suitors to acquire Lillard. If everything goes well, we might see Lillard pairing up with Jayson Tatum by the late second half or 2026-27 season.
