Following Duke basketball’s win vs. Cal, Blue Devil starters Cooper Flagg, Khaman Maluach, Tyrese Proctor discussed the win and what stood out.
Several former Duke basketball players, including 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, will participate in the Las Vegas Summer League.Other notable Duke players in the Summer League include Kon Knueppel, Khaman Maluach, Sion James, and Tyrese Proctor, all drafted in 2025.Former Duke players such as Jack White, Marques Bolden, DJ Steward, Wendell Moore, and Kyle Filipowski will also be showcasing their skills in the Summer League.
NBA Summer League tipped off July 5 in San Francisco and Salt Lake City, but the main event starts July 10 in Las Vegas.Â
Duke basketball will have plenty of representation, including Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. A crowd of former Blue Devils who played for former coach Mike Krzyzewski or current coach Jon Scheyer will try to put on a show in front of NBA executives.Â
In addition to Flagg, each of Duke’s five draft picks in 2025 are set to see the court in Vegas. Kon Knueppel (Charlotte Hornets) and Khaman Maluach (Phoenix Suns) were top-10 picks, with Sion James (Charlotte Hornets) and Tyrese Proctor (Cleveland Cavaliers) being selected in the second round.
Here’s a list of all the former Duke basketball players who will be in action during summer league and how to watch them.Â
All eyes will be on the latest No. 1 overall pick when Flagg and the Mavericks play the Los Angeles Lakers at 8 p.m. (ESPN) on July 10. It’s the first step for a franchise-changing player. According to Spotrac, Flagg signed a four-year, $62.7 million contract.Â
A 6-foot-7 Aussie who was a two-way player with the Denver Nuggets during their 2023 championship run, White spent some time with the Memphis Grizzlies before heading back to Australia to play for Melbourne United in the 2025 NBL Championship Series, where he averaged 13.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Bayern Munich Bundesliga title in Germany.Â
Kon Knueppel, Charlotte HornetsÂ
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Knueppel signed a four-year, $45.4 million contract, according to Spotrac. One of Duke’s top two-way players as a freshman, Knueppel’s offensive skills made him an easy choice for the Hornets, who play Utah at 7 p.m. (ESPN) on July 11.Â
Sion James, Charlotte HornetsÂ
Selected by the Hornets early in the second round of the 2025 draft, James signed a four-year, $9.97 million contract, according to Spotrac. A two-way connector during his one season with the Blue Devils, James enters his professional career with an NBA build.Â
Tyrese Proctor, Cleveland CavaliersÂ
Selected by the Cavaliers early in the second round of the 2025 draft, Proctor signed a four-year, $8.69 million contract, according to Spotrac. The Aussie guard gives Cleveland a sharpshooter and capable on-ball defender. Cleveland opens the summer league against Indiana at 5 p.m. (ESPN+, NBA TV) on July 10.Â
Bolden last played in the NBA during the 2023-24 season when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Hornets. He’s averaged 2.4 points and 2.3 rebounds across 18 games in the league. On July 5 in the first game of the California Classic, Bolden had two points and eight rebounds for the Warriors in 20 minutes against the Lakers. The 27-year-old center was with the Warriors during the 2024 summer league.Â
DJ Steward, Los Angeles LakersÂ
Steward has played well across the last four seasons in the G League, averaging 19.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season with the Memphis Hustle. The former Duke guard had 20 points and six assists in the Lakers’ loss to the Warriors on July 5 as part of the California Classic. Steward had 14 points against the Bulls in the second game of the summer league. The Lakers play San Antonio on July 8 (10 p.m., ESPN) before playing the Mavericks in Vegas.
Wendell Moore, Orlando MagicÂ
After ending last season on a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets and getting waived by the Detroit Pistons, Moore will get a shot with the Magic in Vegas. He’s averaged 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in five seasons. Orlando plays Sacramento on July 10 (7:30 p.m., NBA TV).
Khaman Maluach, Phoenix SunsÂ
Selected with the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, Maluach is a pick that was involved in the trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets. The 7-foot-2 center gives the Suns an interior presence the franchise lacked last season.Â
Kyle Filipowski, Utah JazzÂ
A second-round pick in 2024, Filipowski averaged 9.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists in his first NBA season. He had 22 points and six rebounds in the opener of the 2025 Salt Lake Summer League against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Jazz will play two more games in Utah before playing Charlotte on July 11 (7 p.m., ESPN) in Vegas.Â
