Matthew Murrell didn’t get his name called during the 2025 NBA Draft, but he has still earned a shot to play at the highest level.
Murrell signed with the Utah Jazz as an undrafted free agent on June 27. It provides an opportunity to go to camp with the Jazz and make the roster.
The Jazz are getting a 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard who is a strong defender. Murrell was plagued with a lower-body injury throughout 2024-25. He averaged 10.8 points and 3.8 rebounds.
He is leaving Ole Miss after playing in 153 games in five seasons. It’s an Ole Miss record.
Murrell’s strongest season came in 2023-24 when he averaged 16.2 points. When he’s at his best, he is a physical defender and threat to drive or shoot a 3-pointer. Murrell is a career 34.8% 3-point shooter.
Point guard Sean Pedulla is the other Rebel off the 2024-25 team to sign an NBA contract. Pedulla got a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers.
