SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Washington High School has found the next leader of its girls basketball program.
The school announced on social media it will hire Cory McKinney as its head coach, pending board approval.
McKinney was a four-year varsity player at Washington and graduated from the school in 2018. He then had a standout collegiate career at Indiana Tech.
After graduating from Indiana Tech, McKinney returned to Washington to serve as an assistant boys basketball coach and teach special education.
He will lead the girls program after previous head coach Steve Reynolds left to become an assistant coach at UT Arlington where his three oldest daughters play.
