Swampcast talks Florida softball, Florida basketball, transfer season
The Sun’s Kevin Brockway and Noah Ram discuss transfers in Florida basketball, football and UF’s softball showdown vs. Oklahoma with Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman.
The defending national champion Florida Gators will be well represented later this month at the NBA Draft combine.
Three Florida basketball players ― senior guard Walter Clayton Jr., senior guard Alijah Martin and sophomore forward Alex Condon― received invitations to the NBA Draft combine over the weekend.
Senior guard Will Richard and sophomore center Rueben Chinyelu did not make the list of 75 invites for the event, which will take place from May 11-18 at Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis in Chicago.
The 6-foot-3 Clayton, a senior All-American, has worked his way up to a projected first-round pick after earning Final Four Most Outstanding Player honors and leading UF to its third national title in school history. He averaged 18.3 points and 3.7 assists on the season and 22.3 points and 3.3 assists in six NCAA Tournament games.
The 6-foot-2 Martin averaged 14.4 points and 2.2 assists, while the 6-foot-11, 230-pound Condon averaged 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists on the season.
As underclassmen, Condon and Chinyelu have until May 28 at 11:59 p.m. to decide whether to return to UF or keep their names in the draft.
Per the NBA’s latest collective bargaining agreement, all invited players are required to attend and participate in the NBA Draft Combine. According to the NBA website, the league may excuse an invited player’s attendance or participation at the draft combine and require the player to complete draft combine activities at a later date.
