NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Pelicans assistant coach Corey Brewer will serve as head coach of the Summer League team when action begins on the court Thursday in Las Vegas.
Brewer, 39, will have a ton of talent to call on in the desert. That includes Yves Missi and the first-round picks, Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen.
Brewer was a star for the Florida Gators and played in the NBA for 13 years. His son, KB, also has a shot to play in the league. He won a state title with Country Day this spring, and Brewer can jump out of the gym with his dunks.
Brewer joined the Pelicans’ staff soon after retiring as a player in 2020. He was hired as a player development coach and was promoted to assistant coach last year.
