SAN FRANCISCO – The San Antonio Spurs (1-2) fell short to the Los Angeles Lakers (2-1), 89-88, in their final game in the California Classic on Tuesday evening at Chase Center.
David Jones-Garcia led San Antonio with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Omari Moore followed with 10 points and 4 rebounds.
The Spurs shot 53.1% from the field in the first half to take a 47-45 lead at the break. Jones-Garcia scored 14 first-half points for San Antonio, while Darius Bazley paced Los Angeles with 13 points. San Antonio extended their lead behind back-to-back threes from Jones-Garcia, outscoring the Lakers 21-15 to take a 68-57 advantage into the final frame. The Lakers closed the game on a 15-5 run, sealed by a Bazley dunk with 13.3 seconds remaining, to erase a late deficit and take an 89-88 lead behind Dalton Knecht’s 15 fourth-quarter points.
Bazley led the Lakers with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Knecht added 25 points and 8 rebounds.
The Silver and Black will travel to Las Vegas for the NBA 2K26 with the first game on Thursday, July 10 against the Philadelphia 76ers at 9 p.m. CT at Thomas & Mack Center. The game will be available to watch on ESPN and FanDuel Sports Network.
