Chris Youngblood made his presence felt for the Oklahoma City Thunder (1-2) In the Salt Lake City Summer League.
Â
Youngblood struggled shooting in the first game, only going two for eight from the field with five points, but he had two offensive rebounds and three steals in 21 minutes in a 92-80 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies (1-2).
Â
Youngblood, an Alabama basketball alumni, had the hot hand in the team’s second game on Monday. Youngblood scored 15 points on four of seven from three and hit three free throws, in route to 89-78 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers (1-2).
Â
Youngblood signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Thunder on June 27 after averaging 10.3 points on 38.8% from three on 5.4 three point attempts last season for the Crimson Tide. He averaged 13.5 points over his five-year college career at Kennesaw State and South Florida, where he won American Athletic Conference Player Of The Year during the 2023-24 season.Â
Â
The Thunder have no open standard roster spots, but the team has opened a two-way contract after rookie Alex Ducas, a former Saint Mary’s guard, signed a deal with the Brisbane Bullets of Australia’s National Basketball League on Tuesday.
Â
A two-way contract would give Youngblood eligibility to play in 50 games while spending the rest of the season with the organization’s G League team, the Oklahoma City Blue.
