When people think of Indiana State, they almost automatically go to Larry Bird, who had an amazing career there in the late 1970’s, culminating with the legendary matchup against Magic Johnson’s Michigan State in the 1979 title game.
He’s not the only great name the Sycamores produced though: before he went out to UCLA in 1948, John Wooden got his coaching feet wet in Terre Haute. And Robby Avila had a fabulous career there until he followed coach Josh Schertz to Saint Louis last season.
So it’s pretty cool that Indiana State is coming to Cameron on November 14th.
As of now, it looks like Duke will see Kansas, Michigan, Texas and Michigan State this fall, which is the basis of a great non-conference schedule.
On a secondary note, playing teams that have deep roots in the game like Kansas and Indiana State is a real pleasure. I
