MISHAWAKA — The high school coaching carousel has been spinning in Michiana for quite awhile, but today it comes full circle.

Tonight, Mishawaka approved Will Coatie as its new boys basketball coach.

Coatie has spent the last 13 seasons coaching in Elkhart: nine as the girls head coach at Elkhart Central and Elkhart High School, and the last two, as the boys head coach at Elkhart.

Coatie resigned in April following a 5-18 season.

Over his 13-year head coaching career he’s won 122-games.

Coatie replaces Bodie Bender at Mishawaka, who coincidentally, replaced Coatie at Elkhart.

So essentially, Mishawaka and Elkhart are swapping coaches.

Coatie was approved Wednesday night at the School City of Mishawaka board meeting.

His appointment, means six of the 14 teams in the Northen Indiana & Northern Lakes Conferences will have new coaches in 2025.
