OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA (KOKH) — The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum unveiled a new installation titled “Hope Wins,” commemorating the Oklahoma City Thunder’s first NBA Championship in the same year as the 30th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing.
The Thunder, who have been integral partners with the museum since their arrival in 2008, have brought a renewed sense of pride and unity to the city with their victory this year.
At the center of the new display in Chapter 10, aptly named “Hope,” is a photograph by Thunder photographer Jimmy Do. The image captures Thunder players on their championship parade bus, paused in front of the 9:03 Gate, a moment filled with symbolism and reflection.
The bus, marked with the number 30, traveled in the opposite direction down NW 5th Street from the path taken by the perpetrator 30 years ago. This comparison captures the journey through “A Day of Darkness and Years of Light” and is proof that “Hope Wins”, the museum said.
