Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped a hint on his future with the Milwaukee Bucks on an IShowSpeed livestream.
Antetokounmpo’s Bucks future has been subject to speculation for a number of months due to his growing discontent with the team’s ability to build a championship roster around him.
The Bucks upset Antetokounmpo by waiving Damian Lillard and letting Brook Lopez leave in free agency, leading to the Greek star posting a cryptic social media message on X.
But for the first time, Antetokounmpo gave a glimpse into where his mind is this offseason.
Giannis Antetokounmpo says he’ll ‘probably’ stay in Milwaukee
Antetokounmpo featured on internet star IShowSpeed’s livestream, and spoke about his future with the Bucks.
Speed was speaking about New York to Antetokounmpo, when the two-time NBA MVP revealed that people had tried to convince him to play there. That led to Speed asking Antetokounmpo if he is staying in Milwaukee.
He replied, “Probably. We’ll see. I love Milwaukee.”
Antetokounmpo’s love of Milwaukee is well-known, and that reply is interesting. Firstly, not a certain yes. If he wanted to he could have slammed the door shut on trade speculation then and there.
Secondly, the reasoning. “I love Milwaukee”. Nothing about being in the right spot basketball wise. Nothing about loving his current basketball situation. It has been evident for a while that the only thing keeping Antetokounmpo in the city is the city itself.
Milwaukee Bucks are contenders for the NBA title in a banged up Eastern Conference
The Bucks have made some moves this offseason to appease Antetokounmpo, and it doesn’t look like they’re done yet. Milwaukee traded for Myles Turner, is one of the teams interested in Russell Westbrook, and the Bucks are in the race for Bradley Beal this summer.
They have one of the two best players in the league in Antetokounmpo, and with him there is always a chance, but in particular this season presents a real opportunity to make the finals, even without a second star alongside their main man.

The Celtics traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, and Jayson Tatum is out with an Achilles tear, as is Tyrese Haliburton for the Indiana Pacers.
The New York Knicks just fired their head coach and are unlikely to be better than they were last season, meanwhile the one-seed Cleveland Cavaliers disappointed in the playoffs, losing in the second round.
The East is wide open, and a legendary season from Antetokounmpo of which he is well capable may be enough to see them through to the NBA Finals.
