The 2024-25 season is in the books for the Philadelphia 76ers, which means it is the time to look back on the season that was for each player. The Sixers finished 24-58 as they missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2016-17 season amid a slew of injuries.

The Sixers used a grand total of 30 players throughout the season and an NBA record 53 starting lineups. This series will focus on the 15 players on standard deals and the three on two-way deals to finish the season–not anybody who finished the season on a 10-day deal.

Up next in this series is star forward Paul George. In the first of a 4-year $212 million deal, George was limited to only 41 games as he dealt with a variety of injuries. He suffered a left knee bone bruise in the preseason and then suffered the same exact injury later in the regular season before his season ended in March due to a left finger sprain.

Here is a final grade and overview for George in his first season with the Sixers:

The season was a bit of a disaster for George. His numbers were down across the board as the injuries clearly limited him a bit on the offensive end. His attempts at the basket were down while his 3-point attempts were up in comparison–as highlighted here–and the Sixers were unable to see what the full potential of George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey could look like. Philadelphia is still committed to this group as it has the core players locked in so George will have another chance in 2025-26 to make things work with his two star teammates.

George highlights

George’s most impactful performance came in an impressive Jan. 24 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at home. The 9-time All-Star was in a rhythm as he scored 30 points on 11-for-21 shooting while knocking down six 3s on 11 attempts. He also pulled down five rebounds.

Final grade

Overall, George’s first season in Philadelphia wasn’t good. It was an injury-riddled mess and one has to wonder how much he has left in the tank when considering he just turned 35 years old. In theory, he is a terrific fit next to Embiid and Maxey as a wing player who can create along with being able to be a catch-and-shoot option. Therefore, it is worth seeing what this trio of players can do if they can get healthy. The Sixers will just need George to have a much-needed bounce back season.
