Despite a big performance from Ajay Mitchell, the Thunder dropped the first game of their summer season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s summer league team lost 92-80 Saturday in Salt Lake City to the Memphis Grizzlies in the first game of the NBA Summer League.

The Grizzlies had big performances from GG Jackson and Jaylen Wells, who both had 20 points and three 3-pointers each.

Cam Spencer also had 14 points and former Oklahoma State and West Virginia player Javon Small scored four points and dished out six assists in 19 minutes.

The Thunder got the loss, but had plenty of first impressions and eyebrow-raising performances from a few players.

Ajay Mitchell led the game with 24 points, along with six assists and a few highlight plays, including a spin-move into the paint and rising into a double-clutch layup with contact.

Nikola Topic, the Thunder’s first-round pick in 2024, scored 14 points on 6-11 from the field and 2-4 from 3-point range. Topic tore his ACL close to the 2024 draft and Saturday’s game was his first performance in an OKC uniform.

OKC’s second-round pick in 2025, Brooks Barnhizer, scored nine points on 3-5 from the field and 13 rebounds. Jazian Gortman scored 10 points and three assists.

The Thunder play Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers in Salt Lake City at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
