Ever since drafting Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs have made a concerted effort to surround the budding superstar with talented rookies and strong veterans. Last season, the Silver & Black brought in Harrison Barnes.
Barnes, named finalist for 2025 NBA Social Justice Champion Award, has made an indelible mark on the community. He and has wife have donated funds to local colleges and refurbished a trio of community center basketball courts in San Antonio, Austin, and Saltillo, Mexico.
In addition to his off court generosity, Barnes also made an impact on the court.
The former North Carolina Tar Heel played in all 82 games for the Spurs this season, his third season doing so. And over this past season he led the league in corner threes.
Barnes has immense value for the Spurs, so much so that his name was scarcely mentioned in trade scenarios. And when the Spurs held a jersey reveal with new partner Ledger, Barnes and Keldon Johnson, the longest tenured member of the team, were the ones called upon as ambassadors.
Barnes, 33, has a lot in the tank. He and the Spurs have had a great off season and look to take the squad to the next level this year. His basketball IQ and indefatigability will continue to serve him well.
