The New York Knicks have had a relatively quiet offseason outside of their coaching search, but that might need to change.

After losing in the Eastern Conference Finals last season, the Knicks wanted to make some changes, opting to fire Tom Thibodeau. While firing Thibodeau and bringing in Mike Brown as a replacement is certainly a big decision, the team has been unwilling to make any major roster shakeups, likely because of how close the team was to making the NBA Finals.

However, NBA analyst Nick Wright thinks the Knicks should try to make one of the biggest splashes imaginable and trade for LeBron James. This offseason, James’ future with the Lakers has become uncertain, and there could be a window for a team like the Knicks to make a deal for him.

“If you are the New York Knicks right now, in a wide open Eastern Conference, and you just hired Mike Brown, who has been to a Finals with LeBron, you’re not having a very long meeting about Karl-Anthony Towns for LeBron James and how that works, and calling the Lakers to see if they’re interested,” Wright said.

The swap seems simple enough and makes sense for both sides. Towns could be a perfect stretch big alongside Luka Doncic with the Lakers, and the Knicks have Mitchell Robinson to stay strong inside if James comes.

Considering James’ success dominating the East for so many years, it would make sense for him to have one last potential Finals run with a team on the East Coast.
