The Brooklyn Nets have played just one game in the Las Vegas Summer League heading into Saturday’s slate of games as the event is entering its third day. Brooklyn did not get the result that it wanted in Thursday’s debut as they lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 90-81, but the good news is that one player on the team has stood out from the pack.
According to HoopsHype, center Drew Timme has not only been the best player on the Nets, but he’s been one of the better players in Las Vegas. Timme, who put up 22 points and nine rebounds in Thursday’s loss to the Thunder, ranks as the 32nd-best player in Las Vegas after Friday’s slate of games wrapped up, showing how effective he was for Brooklyn.
For comparison, Timme is ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks‘ Chris Livingston, who is averaging 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists through one game and is just behind the San Antonio Spurs‘ Dexter Dennis, who is averaging 14.0 points through one game. When it comes to the Nets, Timme ranks far ahead of the second-best player on the team, guard Nolan Traore.
Given how Traore played on Thursday, it is somewhat surprising to see him ranked as the 119th-best player in Las Vegas thus far. Traore put up 13 points, three rebounds, and three assists against the Thunder and he shot 3-for-5 from the field against what is a solid defense, but Traore also had three turnovers and three fouls in 26 minutes of action so it’s possible that those miscues factored into the ranking.
The next three Nets on the list in terms of overall ranking were: forward Tosan Evbuomwan, guard Egor Demin, and guard Tyson Etienne. What stood out from this portion of the list was that Demin was rated as being slightly better than Etienne as Demin had a rough start to the game before recovering in the second half. Brooklyn’s players will get another chance to show what they got in Sunday’s game against Tre Johnson and the Washington Wizards.
