The Brooklyn Nets have plenty of decisions to make this offseason as they seek to improve the roster through their four first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft and via free-agency. The NBA trade market is always interesting because there is always a player that surprisingly becomes available and this time around, Brooklyn could be the beneficiary if such an event comes to fruition.

The Ringer’s Howard Beck recently made an appearance on Zach Lowe’s podcast “The Zach Lowe Show” to discuss their reactions to the 2025 NBA playoffs, among other topics. One of those other topics was discussing what could happen between the Milwaukee Bucks and superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo after the team lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Indiana Pacers for the second consecutive season. Beck had some interesting news to share for Nets fans.

“Does Giannis ask out? If he does, does he have a list?” Beck said. “I poked around a little bit a few days ago and the initial thing I got from one person was just some rumblings that it’s just the big cities. It’s one of the LA teams or one of the New York teams or maybe Miami. Not big market, but a glamour market, a mid-size market. I think they threw Chicago in there, I can’t remember if Houston came up.”

While many around the league are wondering where Antetokounmpo when he gets traded, the question that remains is whether he will be traded or not. NBA insider Marc Stein recently reported that the Bucks will not initiate the trading of Antetokounmpo given how impactful he is, not only on the court, but off the court when it comes to the team’s financials and subjects of that nature.

The first domino that has to fall if the Nets are going to be able to trade for Antetokounmpo has to be him asking out of Milwaukee and the latest reporting indicates that he is not looking to do that just yet. If Antetokounmpo does that, however, Brooklyn could have the chance to trade for him due to the amount of draft capital they have at their disposal along with players and cap space to make something happen. Time will tell if Antetokounmpo wants to come to the Big Apple.
