SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse men’s basketball forward Donnie Freeman had his 2024 freshman campaign cut short due to injury.
He made his last appearance on the court for the Orange on January 4th at Florida State.
Freeman sustained a right-foot injury that kept him out of the final nine games of the season. He was initially described by SU as ‘day-to-day.’
After successful foot surgery in February, Freeman says he is “100-percent” and “back to normal” heading into the 2025 season.
Prior to the injury, the 6’10” forward was averaging 13.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Syracuse announced in late March that Freeman and J.J. Starling would be the lone returning players in 2025.
On Tuesday, Freeman said that he never thought about transferring out of SU.
“For me, some people might think otherwise, but it was a no-brainer for me all along,” he said at an SU men’s basketball NIL event. “I didn’t have any thoughts of going anywhere else. It was kind of a no-brainer for me, I wanted to finish what I started here and leave my footprint on Syracuse.”
Freeman and Starling will lead the Orange into head coach Adrian Autry’s third season this fall.
