Phoenix Suns’ summer league roster
This is where the Suns’ three 2025 draft picks Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea will make their NBA debuts. Two key second-year players, Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighadoro, will also participate. Here’s a breakdown:
Khaman Maluach: the Suns’ top draft pick at No. 10 overall via Houston from the Kevin Durant trade. The 7-foot-2, South Sudanese-born center was one of college basketball’s top centers who helped lead Duke to the Final Four with his fellow freshman one-and-done players, Cooper Flagg (Dallas Mavericks‘ No. 1 overall pick) and Kon Kneuppel (Charlotte Hornets‘ No. 4 overall pick).
Rasheer Fleming: Suns’ No. 31 overall pick via the Minnesota Timberwolves, which the Suns moved up in the draft’s second round to acquire. The 6-foot-9 Fleming came out of Saint Joseph’s as a junior power forward, who has solid outside shooting ability and length as a 3-and-D wing.
Koby Brea: Fifth-year senior transfer at Kentucky, who played his previous four years at Dayton. He was college hoops’ top 3-point shooters last season at 43.5%.
Ryan Dunn, Oso Ighodaro: Acquired by the Suns in the 2024 draft. Dunn averaged 6.9 points, 3.6 rebounds per game last season. He showed promise as a 3-and-D wing at 6-foot-8 in his 44 starts in 74 appearances. The 6-foot-11 big Ighodaro (4.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists in 17.1 minutes as a rookie) said at practice on July 8 that he and Dunn look forward to taking a “leadership role” on this year’s Suns NBA Summer League team.
Suns’ NBA Summer League coach DeMarre Carroll: At age 38, Carroll is an assistant to the team’s new head coach Jordan Ott. Carroll had an 11-year NBA career as a small forward with Memphis, Houston, Denver, Utah, Atlanta, Toronto, Brooklyn and San Antonio. Since Carroll’s retirement in 2020, he’s been an assistant coach for Milwaukee, Los Angeles Lakers and was with Ott as a fellow assistant on last season’s No. 1 overall playoff seed, Cleveland.
Wizards’ players to watch: Their top draft pick, Tre Johnson, was selected No. 6 overall. The Texas one-and-done and SEC Freshman of the Year has high odds to win Rookie of the Year for his high-scoring ability (19.9 points per game last season). Also, the Wizards’ top big Alex Sarr is on their Summer League roster. He was the second overall pick by Washington in 2024.
When do the Phoenix Suns next play?
The Suns will face the Atlanta Hawks in their second summer league game on July 13 at 12:30 p.m. (MST). The game will be televised on NBA TV.
