Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban sounds fairly bullish about his team’s chances in the upcoming NBA season.
In a recent interview on the SiriusXM NBA Radio channel, Cuban was asked if he thought the Mavs could compete for an NBA championship in the upcoming season.
“Oh, absolutely,” Cuban said before introducing one condition to his answer.
“We’ve gotta get Kyrie [Irving] back. That’s critical because he’s a winner, he’s a championship player,” he added. “We’re gonna be big. You saw Cooper [Flagg] bringing the ball up. If we have him bring the ball up, or Ky, or DLo [D’Angelo Russell] bringing the ball up. Just being able to have nobody under 6-7, nobody under 6-8 on the court that’s gonna be a tough matchup, particularly now that the league is getting bigger and taller.”

Cuban went on to say that he expects the Mavericks will get their star point guard, who is out with a torn ACL, back at some point in the upcoming season.
“I mean, he’s gonna be careful, but it’s Kyrie, man, he lives to ball and he’s not gonna take time off if he doesn’t have to,” Cuban said.
