The rivalry between the Gonzaga Bulldogs and UCLA Bruins has been renewed.

GU Athletics announced Thursday that the two men’s teams will meet for the sixth consecutive season at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena on Dec. 13 for the 2025 Seattle Hoops Showdown.

The game will complete a two-year scheduling agreement between the schools, with both games being held at off-campus sites as opposed to a traditional home-and-home series.

Last year’s matchup was the inaugural college basketball game held at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome on Dec. 28, with the Zags falling to the “home team” Bruins, 65–62.

The Zags and Bruins are no strangers to one another, especially when it comes to March Madness. GU fans likely remember Jalen Suggs’ half-court buzzer-beater to send the Zags to the national championship in 2021, and Julian Strawther’s 35-foot game winner in the 2023 Sweet 16. The Zags lead the all-time series 7–3.

Both teams have appeared in multiple top-25 offseason rankings, with several high scorers returning from last season on each side. Graham Ike, who averaged a team-high 17.3 points per game last season, and Braden Huff, who averaged more than 15 points per game, both return to GU’s frontcourt, while UCLA brings back Tyler Bilodeau, Eric Dailey Jr. and Skyy Clark. The Bruins have also added multiple players from the transfer portal, highlighted by 2024 All-American honorable mention Donovan Dent and Xavier Booker.

The Zags have yet to win at Climate Pledge Arena since its redevelopment, falling to Alabama in 2021, eventual national champions UConn in 2022 and No. 4 Kentucky by one point in overtime last season.

The game is being managed in all aspects by Intersport, a Chicago-based sports marketing and events agency. Tickets will be available beginning Sept. 19, with a one-day presale starting the day before.

Fans interested in receiving access to the presale and other event information can register online at the venue’s website. Information regarding the TV channel and tipoff time, along with GU’s other preseason opponents, will be released at a date closer to the event.
