BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Star Alabama guard Labaron Philon is staying in the 2025 NBA Draft and will not return to the Crimson Tide next season, Jeff Borzello of ESPN reports.
Collegiate prospects for the NBA Draft are allowed to declare for the draft while maintaining their collegiate eligibility so they can assess their game, receive feedback from NBA teams, of explore other opportunities before either declaring for the draft or returning to school.
However, in the case of Philon, he is “all-in on the draft”, according to Borzello.
{Borzello} “Is the door closed on a return?”
{Philon} “Yeah.”
Borzello also says Philon has told Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats of his decision to say in the draft.
In his lone year in Tuscaloosa, the Mobile native averaged over 10 points per game and helped lead the Tide to their second consecutive Elite Eight.
The NBA draft is set to take place Wednesday, June 25 where three Crimson Tide players will be looking to hear their name called: Labaron Philon, Mark Sears, and Grant Nelson.
