LAS VEGAS — The Philadelphia 76ers are hoping to get second-year guard Jared McCain back from injury in the 2025-26 season. The 2024 No. 16 pick out of Duke was limited to just 23 games as a rookie averaging 15.3 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds before tearing the meniscus in his left knee and had to undergo surgery on it in December.

As he progresses, McCain was unable to play in summer league which is a bit disappointing for both him and the Sixers, but he is still progressing well. For the Sixers, there isn’t much reason to push him to play in the summer league when those games don’t matter. It’s all about making sure he’s ready for when the regular season begins in October.

“It’s been great,” McCain said of his recovery. “I mean, I’m progressing well. Just waiting to get back out there. I’m doing everything I can though. Everything’s going well.”

With that being said, one has to wonder what the next steps for McCain are. He is still looking to get back on the court so it’s all about progressing and hoping he can get to the next level at a quick rate before the season begins.

“Up next is going more like full speed, contact stuff, and progressing,” McCain explained. “We want to take it slow. Don’t rush anything. I think next is just getting out there, really, actually playing a little bit more. I’m excited. It’s been since December, so dying to get out there.”

The Sixers are hoping he can return as quickly as possible in an effort to get everybody on the right path towards full health.
