The Golden State Warriors fanbase does not approve of how the team plans to handle Jonathan Kuminga.
The Golden State Warriors have been incredibly quiet this offseason. For whatever reason, they haven’t made any major signings or trades.
One of the big question marks heading into the offseason for them was the future of Jonathan Kuminga. After four years in San Francisco, Kuminga is looking to leave the Warriors to explore more opportunities.
However, with the new CBA rules, Kuminga has struggled to get offers from other teams. And as a restricted free agent, the Warriors have encouraged him to find a market.
But the team isn’t fully ready to play ball. The Warriors reportedly refuse to trade Kuminga to the Sacramento Kings.
The latest reports suggest the Warriors will re-sign Kuminga, but only to trade him later. It appears this strategy isn’t something Golden State fans approve of.

Golden State Warriors fans reacted to the news about the team re-signing Jonathan Kuminga just to trade him later in the season.
One fan simply remarked, “Such an odd situation.”
Another fan slammed the Warriors for their long-running approach with Kuminga, noting, “They’ve been saying this for years now. Never-ending cycle.”
A non-Warriors fan had one simple request of the franchise: “Please free Kuminga.”
While a Warriors fan asked the rationale of this decision, saying, “What’s the point of keeping him if he’s gonna get traded?”
However, another Warriors fan actually praised the franchise for their strategy, “Warriors playing smart, see what you need most after the first couple months, then trade him for a value player at that position.”
But this sentiment was not shared by the fanbase, with one fan asking, “Do the Warriors hate Kuminga?”
Jonathan Kuminga must prove his worth this season
With the way the Warriors are rating Jonathan Kuminga, he will be motivated to prove everyone wrong. It’s clear they don’t see him in their long-term future.
Given everything he has done for the team, he will want to show the Warriors why giving up on him is a mistake.
Furthermore, by performing at a high level, he can help speed up a trade. The better he plays, the sooner he gets his fresh start with another team.
We saw in the playoffs that Jonathan Kuminga can make an impact, despite Steve Kerr benching him. He just needs to bring that same energy next season.
Hopefully, Kuminga can get his desired trade soon, as neither side is going to be happy continuing this relationship.
