MLB:

Yesterday’s MLB Draft with the 7th pick Miami selected 

Oregon State shortstop Aiva Arquette.

With the 3rd overall pick Seattle selected Kade Anderson from Louisiana State University. The left-hander was named Baseball America’s College Pitcher of the Year.

At number 13 in the draft, the Giants chose Tennessee second baseman Gavin Kilen.

The Mariners ride into the All Star Break on a hot streak after sweeping the Detroit Tigers. They’re in 2nd place five games behind the Astros. Cal Raleigh heads into tonight’s home run derby leading the majors with 38. 

San Francisco goes into the break six games behind the Dodgers in 3rd place after losing in 11 innings yesterday. 

 

NBA: 

Portland is 1 – 1 after opening up Summer League play this weekend. Trail Blazers rookie Yang Hansen shined in his debut Friday against the Golden State Warriors. Fans were excited about the surprise draft pick’s passing, scoring, and shot-blocking skills. The Blazers dropped Saturday’s game to Memphis despite a solid performance from rookie Caleb Love. He scored 18 points in both outings.

Portland will continue its Sin City slate Tuesday against the Pelicans.

 

LOCAL:

The Elks won their series at Yakima Valley over the weekend. Now it’s the West Coast League All Star break. They’ll play a couple of exhibition games at Vince Genna this week wrapped around Wednesday’s All-Star game.
