Jul. 14—LAS VEGAS — Rochester Mayo High School graduate Gabe Madsen is making his pitch for an NBA roster spot.
The 2020 Mayo grad has made a pretty good case, scoring a game-high 22 points off the bench in a Golden State Warriors’ 103-93 win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday night. Madsen canned six 3-pointers and was 7 of 12 from the field in just 17 minutes for the Warriors. He had 18 points on 6 of 7 shooting from beyond the arc in the first half.

This came after he scored eight points on July 11.
Madsen went undrafted out of the University of Utah, where he left as the program’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers (313) and 20th in scoring (1,461). It’s always a tall task for an undrafted rookie to go from Summer League to the main roster, but if Sunday was any indication, the 6-foot-6 Madsen certainly has a chance to earn a two-way deal with the Warriors or another NBA squad.
Madsen and the Warriors are back in action on Tuesday, July 15, when they face the Memphis Grizzlies at 9:30 p.m. in Las Vegas. The game will be broadcast on NBATV.
