Phlandrous Fleming Jr. may not be a household name yet, but the 26-year-old guard is trying to change that in the NBA Summer League. He’s doing everything he can to stick with the Memphis Grizzlies. And honestly? He’s making a real case. The name grabs your attention. But it’s the game that keeps you watching.

Grizzlies’ Phlandrous Fleming Jr. is Turning Heads, But Who is He?
Undrafted but Unbothered

Fleming’s path hasn’t been easy. He went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, but that didn’t slow him down.

Fleming started his college career at Charleston Southern, where he earned Big South Defensive Player of the Year honors twice. He later transferred to Florida, finishing his college career in the SEC. In five years, he averaged 14 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

With no NBA offers out of college, Fleming took his talents overseas. He played in France, Portugal, and most recently Germany, where he suited up for Telekom Baskets Bonn in the 2024–25 season, averaging 14.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Now, he’s back on American hardwood and making the most of it.

Summer Splash with the Grizzlies

Fleming joined the Memphis Grizzlies’ Summer League roster in July and immediately turned heads. On July 12 vs. the Portland Trail Blazers, he recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He brought energy on every possession. He attacked the glass, created second chances, and made things happen.

One of his most exciting moments? A steal and a no-look assist that led to a dunk by Tyler Burton against the Boston Celtics. That type of sequence gets coaches talking. It’s not just about stats—it’s about impact. Fleming plays hard, defends well, and makes winning plays.

Is There Room in Memphis?

Let’s be real, Memphis is deep. The Memphis Grizzlies’ roster is young, talented, and already full of guards. But Fleming feels like a fit; he’s not flashy, but he brings the “Grit and Grind” energy.

A full-time NBA contract may be a long shot right now. But a spot with the Memphis Hustle, the Grizzlies’ G League affiliate, seems well within reach. And if he keeps showing up in the NBA Summer League, a two-way contract could be on the table.

The Grizzlies love players who defend, hustle, and do the dirty work. Fleming checks every box.

The Last Word

At 6-foot-4, with a strong frame and years of international experience, Phlandrous Fleming Jr. brings more than just potential. He brings maturity, toughness, and a pro mentality. Fleming is also unselfish, defends at a high level, and thrives in chaos. He’s built for the grind of the NBA. Fleming may not be on every fan’s radar. But he’s making sure that changes.

So, who is Phlandrous Fleming Jr? Maybe the Memphis Grizzlies’ next hidden gem. Maybe their next NBA G League success story. Or maybe, just perhaps, the next name to break through from Summer League into the big show.

Stay tuned, the Memphis Grizzlies might have something special.
