Editor’s note: This story was updated to reflect the updated NBA draft order for the first round following an ESPN report that the Atlanta Hawks traded their No. 22 pick to the Brooklyn Nets.
With the Oklahoma City Thunder winning the NBA Finals, the NBA world has shifted its focus to the first offseason event: the 2025 NBA Draft.
That means there will be a new wave of NBA talent soon joining the association. So: who will go No. 1 overall?
Though that almost certainly will be former Duke basketball star Cooper Flagg, that pick for the Dallas Mavericks will not be locked in until 8 p.m. ET on June 25, when NBA commissioner Adam Silver takes the stage at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Compared to past years, the 2025 NBA Draft pool of prospects is considered wide open after Flagg. On top of the several Duke players eligible to be drafted, including Kon Knueppel and Khaman Maluach, one prospect who finds himself at the forefront of headlines is Rutgers’ Ace Bailey. The former Rutgers star, who most recently canceled a draft workout with the Philadelphia 76ers, is the only U.S.-based prospect who has not made any to visit of the 30 NBA teams.
