Rookie Kam Jones registered a double-double on Thursday, leading the Indiana Pacers to a win over the New York Knicks in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jones produced 21 points, 11 assists, three rebounds and one steal in the 91-88 victory at the Thomas & Mack Center. He finished by shooting 9 of 19 from the field, including 2 of 7 from 3-point range, in nearly 29 minutes of action.
The 38th pick notched summer league-highs in points and assists with the performance. He found success scoring with his array of moves and footwork in the paint, while also setting up teammates after connecting on several lobs throughout the game.
Jones is averaging 13.5 points, 5.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals on 48.8% shooting from the field in four appearances in summer league. He has drawn praise from the team for playing at his own pace while seamlessly integrating into the Pacers’ game plan and style of play.
The 23-year-old signed a four-year, $8.7 million contract with the Pacers via the second-round pick exception on July 8. The contract is reportedly fully guaranteed for the upcoming season, with a half guarantee in the second year.
Jones has turned in a productive summer campaign for the Pacers, with one game remaining in the desert. He projects to be a player who can contribute next season in the backcourt and should have a bright future ahead with the team.
