Former Nebraska basketball player Jack McVeigh put together another 20-point outing off the bench for the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night in the NBA Summer League. He scored a game-high 20 points against the Memphis Grizzlies, helping the Hawks to a 92-88 win.

McVeigh led the team in scoring and shooting, going 7-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. He also finished 3-for-3 at the free throw line, even icing the game by scoring Atlanta’s final two points at the line to make the score 92-88.

This is McVeigh’s second game in a row where he scored 20-plus points off the bench. He scored 21 points in the Hawks’ Monday win over the Houston Rockets.

McVeigh is one of four Huskers currently playing in the NBA Summer League, which includes Keisei Tominaga (Indiana Pacers), Brice Williams (Detroit Pistons), and Juwan Gary (Los Angeles Clippers).

The former Husker got picked up by the Hawks for the Summer League after spending his rookie season with the Rockets. He played nine games for Houston and the team’s G-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, last season.

McVeigh played three seasons at Nebraska before returning to his home country of Australia, where he spent time in the NBL from 2018 to 2024.

The Australian and the Hawks finish the NBA Summer League 4-0 but will miss out on the playoffs due to being the fifth-best team in the standings. McVeigh played in three games for the Hawks in the Summer League and averaged 16 points per game.
