The Summer League Celtics took their record to 3-1 in Las Vegas with a 87-78 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, July 17. Baylor Scheierman’s struggles from the field continued, as he went 2-of-14 for a field goal percentage of 14.3%. Fortunately, the sophomore wing chipped in with 6 assists, 5 rebounds and a steal to ensure he had a productive night.

After being ejected in his last outing, Jordan Walsh was back to impressing for Matt Reynolds’ roster. He shot 6-of-11 from the field, good for 17 points along with 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Walsh has been one of the Celtics‘ best players out in Vegas. Another player who continues to impress is rookie Hugo Gonzalez, he put in another all-action display, with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a block. He’s already showing signs of being ready for an NBA rotation.

With Charles Bassey no longer on the roster, after his three-game deal came to an end, the Celtics relied on Amari Williams (8 points, 6 rebounds) and Kenny Lofton Jr. (12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) to anchor the middle of the floor. Max Shulga struggled running the point guard position, and Miles Norris had a strong showing off the bench, going 5-for-11 from the field.

Following their win, the Celtics will play one more game in Vegas. They will face the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday, July 20.
