Penn State men’s basketball are in the midst of summer workouts with 3rd year head coach mike Rhoades. The Schuylkill county native will have to get his roster of new players to jell before the season opens in November. There will be several International players on the roster along with some highly recruited freshman. It will be the head coaches job this summer to get everyone on the same page.

Mike Rhoades, Penn State Men’s basketball coach,(Mahanoy city) says, “ The whole theme of our, of our summer is building bonds. Let’s build our team together. And we got a bond. So that that’s sort of been spent a lot of time together, in the gym, in the weight room, on the track early in the mornings.

And then, of course, when we do have free time and we have time to sit around and communicate with each other and interact with each other, that’s how you build a bond that goes beyond the sport of playing. So it’s always been really important to me. And for some years it’s, easier or because people have been around each other and like right now for us, we have a lot of new faces.

So we’re building relationships. It’s also fun to, and it’s refreshing of coaching staff, too, because you really get to know your, your guys that you recruited and brought here together. But you also see the returning veterans have to go out of their way to build relationships with the new guys. I like that. “

Last season Penn State finished 16 and 15 overall and just 6 and 14 in the Big Ten.
