The four-time NBA champion averaged 14.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 41.2% from the floor, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 90.5% from the free-throw line.

The Mavericks missed the playoffs last season after making the NBA Finals in 2024. Dallas general manager Nico Harrison traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis and Max Christie in February.

Thompson, Davis and Kyrie Irving only played in one game together last season. Davis got injured in his Mavericks debut against the Houston Rockets on February 8, while Irving tore his left ACL against the Sacramento Kings on March 3.

Dallas signed veteran point guard D’Angelo Russell, who played with Davis on the Lakers, this offseason in free agency. Russell will start at point guard next season until Irving returns to the lineup.
