Scott Perry has made the Sacramento Kings’ goal for next season apparent: create an organizational identity centered around six core principles.

Competitive. Tough. Team-Oriented. Disciplined. Accountable. Professional.

In Las Vegas for the 2K26 Summer League, Perry sat down with Sactown Sports for an exclusive one-on-one interview to outline how he decided on those principles, finding players (new and inherited) who fit the mold, and plenty more.

Rookies Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud, some of Perry’s first decisions as Sacramento’s lead, obviously check all those boxes. But what players from Monte McNair’s tenure fall into that?

DeMar DeRozan remains on Sacramento’s roster, and Perry highlighted how the sixteen-year veteran has conducted himself with all four organizations he’s been part of.

“He’s been professional. He’s been accountable. He’s been disciplined,” Perry told Sactown Sports. “All those things we talk about.”

Despite their toughest challenge yet, Sacramento became the first 4-0 team in Las Vegas Wednesday afternoon.

Cavaliers guard Tyrese Proctor had 35 points, but the Kings held Cleveland to 35.5 percent as a team.
