The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to bounce back in the 2025-26 season following a miserable 24-58 season. The Sixers have been among the top contenders in the East in recent seasons–and were expected to do so again–but injuries decimated the roster and ruined any chances of winning in 2024-25.

Of course, things come down to whether Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey will be on the floor healthy, but ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins believes there’s a bigger problem in Philadelphia: a bad culture.

He issued a warning to the Sixers when it comes to Maxey:

The Philadelphia 76ers are on the clock. They’re on the clock when it comes down to Tyrese Maxey, and when I say ‘on the clock,’ because if they keep trending in this direction of no culture and no stability, guess what? Tyrese Maxey is gonna want out of Philadelphia, and we know who his agent is. Rich Paul. And Rich Paul don’t give a damn.

When you think about the Philadelphia 76ers and Daryl Morey, they’ve gotta get it together.

Perkins may have a point, but there is no reason to panic. Maxey is committed to Philadelphia as shown by the 5-year extension he signed with the franchise in 2024. He is expected to be a leader for the Sixers for the time being and he wants to get this thing right. There is not much reason to believe Maxey is going to all of a sudden want out.
